The Grand Chianti Classico Tasting

An Overview
Organised on behalf of the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico this tasting will be an exciting opportunity to taste the full gamut of Chianti Classico – Annata, Riserva and Gran Selezione, together with around 35 producers
A select number of producers from Tuscany will also be sampling their extra virgin Chianti Classico olive oil, Prosciutto Toscano and Pecorino Toscano.
The Chianti Classico 2016 ‘Gran Selezione’ Masterclass @ 12.00 with Michaela Morris and Giovanni Manetti.
Michaela is an international wine writer, educator and Italian wine expert certified through Vinitaly International Academy as well as an Honorary Ambassador for Chianti Classico. She writes for Decanter Magazine, among other specialist wine publications, and is a judge at Decanter World Wine Awards.
Giovanni is one of Tuscany’s legends and understands Chianti Classico better than almost anyone. He is President of the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico.
Together they will explore and present a selection of 2016 Gran Selezione wines – Chianti Classico’s answer to Grand Cru – their top tier of wines produced 100% from estate-grown vines and aged for a minimum of 30 months.
The Chianti Classico 2019 Extra Virgin Olive Oil Masterclass @ 15.00 with Joe Trivelli of the River Café
Joe has been the head chef at the River Café in London for the last 19 years. He regularly writes for The Guardian and The Observer and recently published his first book “The Modern Italian Cook”.
2020 marks the 20th anniversary of the DOP for Chianti Classico oil and Joe will take participants through a selection of six different olive oils from various different parts of the Chianti Classico region, sharing his in-depth knowledge and some culinary insights.
Entry to either of the Masterclasses is on a first come first served basis.
